I wish this had never happened to me. How many times have I thought that in my life, and especially during these last few months. I wish this had never come to me. I’m sure I am not the only one who has felt this way. Whether it’s a chronic illness, a great loss, or other life events, at one time or another, we all think this.

What Good Am I? Am I Still Useful?
You shouldn’t be doing that! I will take care of that, just
sit and rest. Let someone else do that! If I find out you did that, you will be
in so much trouble. Are you trying to hurt yourself? Have you ever heard
statements like this – I have, and some days it gets very old.

Is WedMD of the Devil?
As a young child of the 80’s, Schoolhouse Rock told me “knowledge is power” and G.I. Joe taught me “knowing is half the battle”. Today, we have more knowledge than ever available to us at our finger trips – but is that knowledge really giving us power? Sometimes, that knowledge can make the battle even harder.

When All Hope Seems Lost
It was a dark day, darker than any day I had yet
experienced. As I listened, on the other end of the phone, my mom said
something that rocked me to my core, “Your father has advanced stage colon
cancer.” I had no words. So many emotions were pouring through me. “Please God,
not again, please do not do this to my family again”, was all I could say as I
struggled to process this latest news.

People ask me all the time what it is like to deal with Parkinson's. Often, we have no idea from one day to the next what our day will feel like. Day to day we can feel and experience very different symptoms, and no two Parkinson's patients experience this disease exactly the same.
Sometimes it can be hard to explain if you have not experienced it. This article gives a wonderful perspective on what it is like to deal with Parkinson's daily. Very helpful in understanding the new journey that I am on.

So Alone...Feelings of Isolation
Hello, my name is Charles, and I am a freak. Not really, but often that is how it felt when telling my story to others - the story of a young man trapped in an 80-year-old body...and now, on top of everything else, Parkinson's was added to this freak show. 😜

5 Things I Have Learned So Far On This Journey
It has been about two months since I first heard
those words, “You have Parkinson’s Disease.” Four small words that turned our
family’s world upside down. Since that proclamation, it has felt like drinking
from a fire hydrant. Medications to research, side effects to manage, elder
care planning meetings, education about the disease, support groups, exercise routines, and on and on and on it
goes. So much to learn; so many things to consider.
