Tis the season. It is the time of year (if you can get past
all the Christmas stuff already out) that we take time to be thankful. A time
of year when we remember and give thanks for all we have, but this year, there
is one thing I am not thankful for, and I am not sure I ever will be. I must
admit, I am just not thankful for Parkinson’s.

"It's You I Like"
As a child, he walked into my living room each day and asked
the simple question, “Won’t you be my neighbor?” With his cardigan sweaters,
sneakers, and simple, quiet ways, he took us down many paths of discovery, and
taught us wonderful lessons in his simple way. Each and every day, he reminded
me, and millions of children, that I was special just the way I was, and this
simple lesson is something I need to remember every single day.

Am I Enough?
So many things I cannot do. So many ways my body is failing.
So many extra things my wife, my children, and others have to pick up and do
because of my illness. So many decisions that have to be considered and made
because of me. I know my wife and children love me, but am I enough?

It's The Small Things (That Make The Difference)
“Saruman believes it is only great power that can hold evil in check, but that is not what I have found. It is the small everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keep the darkness at bay. Small acts of kindness and love. Why Bilbo Baggins? Perhaps because I am afraid, and he gives me courage.” -Gandolf the Grey

As Elvis Would Say, "All Shook Up"
“I’m Fine”. How many times a day do we say this or hear this from others. It is our go to response to the question, “How are you doing?” Many times we give this response without even thinking, when often we are anything but fine. Why do we have such a hard time being honest?

Grieving When Dealing With Chronic Illness - Great Article
One of the most unexpected parts of dealing with a chronic illness is the grief, and grieving process, you and your loved ones experience. In some ways, you are watching yourself slowly lose pieces of who you are little by little. This article did a great job of capturing those feelings and sharing them with others.
